A Rideshare App Redefines Safe Transportation for College Students

RIDES2U is a dedicated ride-share service connecting community members, students, and families with professional, convenient, and secure transportation.

Project GOals

Drive Growth

Moving from a basic web app booking system to a self-service mobile app would allow RIDES2U to serve a higher volume of users, increase bookings, and reduce operational costs.

Optimize Performance

the mobile app needed to reduce friction for users, making it easy for them to make changes to a ride, communicate with drivers, and report safety concerns.

Tailored Experiences

users needed to access personalized information about their past, current, and scheduled rides, recently visited locations, and payment details within the app.

Log In & Sign Up

Upon opening the app, the log in/sign up flow distinguishes between current and new users, allowing new users to create accounts as riders, family members, or businesses. Family and business accounts can link to rider accounts to create and pay for rides on their behalf.

On-Demand Rides

Riders can request an on-demand ride, select their car type, and view their start point, destination, driver location, driver details, and options for reporting issues or tipping.

Reserved Rides

Users can reserve shared or private rides for the future. They either choose from existing shared/private rides or create a new one, and specify rider names, number of bags, notes for the driver, and pickup and drop-off locations.

Driver App

To accompany the primary app, we created an app for drivers to accept on-demand or reserved rides, view map directions during rides, and manage payment or car information.

Outcomes

In 2023, we launched the app along with a driver version. Since then, the apps have been downloaded by nearly 10,000 users generating over 38,000 sessions and growing as the service expands from its first university area to multiple universities nationwide.
